How Much Money Do You Get From TikTok Live Gifts
By Jamie
At a quick Google some people claim TikTok takes 50% the value of your coins, some say 70% and others 66%. We're here to figure out exactly what the number is.
They're all wrong.
Each gift is worth some amount of coins. Coins are TikTok's virtual currency (similar to Bits in Twitch) that streamers can convert to income.
At the time of writing this, 1 coin is worth 1.06 cents (USD). However note that there are bulk purchasing discounts, holiday sales, and additional service fees that can come into play when calculating the actual value of a coin.

A Rose gift is worth 1 coin ($0.0105) whereas a TikTok Universe gift is worth 44,999 coins ($476.99).
TikTok has over 250 other gifts, is constantly adding more and some are region specific.
Because having just two currencies isn't simple enough TikTok decided to also add Diamonds.
For each gift you receive TikTok will halve its Coin value to produce its value in Diamonds.
So if you happened to receive the ever coveted TikTok Universe gift, instead of obtaining 44,999 Coins TikTok will take 50% and you will receive 22,499.5 Diamonds.
Currently every Diamond is worth $0.005, so 200 Diamonds will net you one dollar. So had you received the TikTok Universe gift you would have been paid out $112.50.
Currently, to purchase the 44,999 coins required to purchase the TikTok Universe gift it would cost $476.99. Which means you're keeping 24% of the money your viewer sent you. And TikTok is taking 76% of the money your viewer sent you.
With TikTok's variable Coin prices, third party service fees, and multiple currency conversions. The reason for the discrepancies found with the reported percentage TikTok Live was taking makes plenty of sense.
But we know that figuring out the exact value of your Diamonds can be obnoxious so we've made a simple earnings calculator.
